Torino’s own Bandakadabra is back in town. These homegrown stars will be filling the city’s streets and piazzas – what better venue for this rambunctious group? – with their brand of rocksteady-Balkan-swing that combines music and cabaret. All the energy of a street band, with sounds that echo 1930s big bands. They also happen to be the backup band for artists like singer-songwriter Vinicio Capossela, poet Guido Catalano, singer Samuel Romano, and rapper Willie Peyote. Check out their superb 2018 release Entomology2.

MARTIN MAYES / OLIVIERO CORBETTA “FIATI”
4 pm – Museo della Montagna – piazzale Monte dei Cappuccini, 7
Martin Mayes, alpine horn, horns, shells, bells, rattles and text
Oliviero Corbetta, narrator
A dialogue between a horn player and an actor in the courtyard of Torino’s National Mountain Museum. Martin Mayes will be playing a number of different instruments, including the alpine horn. He teams up with Oliviero Corbetta, an actor whose performance whisks us off to the alps. Musical improvisation, digression and a nod to some classic pieces provide accompaniment for immortal as well as contemporary poetry. A cascade of music and verse that meld into diaphanous echoes vibrating in unison.
A Torino Jazz Festival Production
In conjunction with the National Mountain Museum
