TJF is committed to showcasing new talent. This year we’re putting the spotlight on Trixie Whitley, a young singer-drummer-keyboard player-composer. She was front-woman for Daniel Lanois’s group Black Dub. She also happens to be songwriter Chris Whitley’s daughter, and made her debut with him as a girl – she appears on many of his albums and played live with her dad. Her solo career began early, and she’s played with stars like Robert Plant, Marianne Faithfull, and Meshell Ndegeocello. Trixie’s songwriting shows a wide variety of influences, including electronics, blues, rock and jazz Her appearance at TJF marks her first performance in Italy.
