“If God could sing, it would be with the voice of Milton,” Elis Regina once said. Nascimento is one of the great heroes of Brazilian music, a singer-songwriter celebrated throughout the world for the expressive power of his music, as he continues to renew his country’s already rich repertoire. His career stretches back to the 1960s, and since then he has blended Brazilian music with sounds from the Beatles and jazz. He’s still going strong at 80. Over the years, he’s played with superstars like Wayne Shorter, Pat Metheny, Paul Simon, Cat Stevens and Quincy Jones. This will be his last tour, and it kicks off right here in Torino. The event promises to be a huge party, featuring a group of time-tested musicians reunited to honor the living legend that is Milton Nascimento.
