The famed English novelist Jonathan Coe is also a musician and composer. He’s featured on keyboards with the Artchipel Orchestra, for a set of music of his own. Conducted by Ferdinando Faraò, the orchestra includes international stars like Keith Tippett and Mike Westbroook. Coe calls his music “instrumental rock, with a heavy emphasis on melody. A bit like the British bands from the Canterbury scene in the ’70s.” Artchipel’s challenge: To transform British music, with its progressive recalls, into a broader, orchestral vein, rife with elements of jazz and other surprising developments.
In conjunction with Salone Internazionale del Libro di Torino.
