Futurism, Afrofuturism, Indofuturism
In a 1994 interview, when discussing the tendency of science fiction to project into a high-tech future the concerns and themes near and dear to the Afro-American community, Mark Dery coined the term “Afrofuturism”. The term was quickly adopted by American Blacks and became a symbol of cultural identity. L’invasione degli Afronauti by Giorgio Rimondi (published in Italy by Shake Edizioni, 2021), provides an all-new perspective on Black life in the United States from the early 20th century to the present, with a focus on the “futurological” dimension of tensions that the Afro-American community has been subject to. Author Giorgio Rimondi talks with TJF artistic director Stefano Zenni.
