A tribute to the legendary saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist Rhasaan Roland Kirk, one of the most overlooked figures in the pantheon of jazz. Dedicated to Kirk is an original suite from the new album by Ponissi’s new quartet entitled Re-Generation Quartet. The saxophonist and flutist from Torino has garnered numerous awards both as a soloist and band leader, and over the course of his career has played with people like Giorgio Gaslini, George Cables, George Coleman, Roy Haynes and Kenny Clarke.
